Re-imagining Afrikan Identities and Futures beyond the Neo-colonial Project


On July 12th the Afrikan Liberation Hub hosted its first Pre-Gathering discussion, Re-imagining Afrikan Identities and Futures beyond the Neo-colonial Project, at Makers Valley Partnership Studio in Victoria Yards.


This discussion and story-sharing event aimed to deepen our understanding of Afrikan Liberation through the Queer lens. Our panellists Sihle Tshangela and Sindile Bongela shed light on the interconnected nature of colonial heteropatriarchy and its impact on current relations, political structures, and neoliberal capitalism. The discussion followed multiple threads, exploring what makes us Afrikan and our understanding of both Queer sexual identity and Queerness. 


The discussion followed a participatory format where Sihle and Sindile discussed questions before turning them to the floor, allowing participants to engage as the third discussant.
